Staff Scientist, Johnston Laboratory

Welcome!
I am a microbiologist and biochemist fascinated by bacteria. Specifically, my research interests lie in the human microbiome. My projects focus on parsing out bacterial genetic diversity to identify disease-relevant isolates and applying synthetic microbiology approaches to facilitate investigating the role of these pathobionts in disease onset, progression, and treatment efficacy.
I look to bring my expertise and training toward investigating clinically relevant microbes with the goal of identifying putative targets for the development of bench-to-bedside therapeutics.
Outside of the lab, I seek opportunities to make sustainable and impactful changes for equitable access to science and science education. This passion has led me to explore curriculum design, community outreach, and board service.
